How good can a putter be if Jordan Spieth decided not to use it? Well, you'll have to pay $18,000 to find out for sure.
You see, a Scotty Cameron prototype putter built for Spieth during his short collegiate stint at the University of Texas is up for sale at eBay, and that's the going price. The putter, finished in black, was painted with Longhorns orange and has Spieth's name on the back of the blade.*
The putter has an Anser-style head and, according to the seller, was built to Spieth's spec during his one year in college: 34 inches long, 75-degree lie angle and a 20-gram weight added in the head.*
It comes with a certificate of authenticity, which is a nice touch.
However, there's a reason it didn't make the bag. It wasn't better than the Scotty Cameron 009 putter that he's been using so successfully since he was a teenager.
