This morning we have a returning guest, Mr. Lou Giovanetti.Lou is a Bronx-bred New Yorker and THE Beach Cities’ bel canto.He is a Broadway stage, screen, TV actor and Big Band front man and loves singing the Great American Songbook and jazz classics that instantly connect and move people. Lou is inspired by Sinatra and Bennett and leans on the legacy of the great Jazz-era musicians and song stylists and celebrates them with fresh arrangements and modern twists.As he has for the last several years, Lou headlined the annual Pier Plaza New Year’s Eve Celebration last week.In addition, Lou recently soft-opened his namesake restaurant, Lou’s on the Hill, and is currently ramping up for the Grand Opening later this month.The kitchen will be helmed by Executive Chef Eric Mickle and the inventive modern-meets-rustic menu features Italian cuisine inspired by California's seasonal bounty and local purveyors.Crudo plates, house cured charcuterie, handmade pastas, artisanal cheeses, wood-fired pizza, delectable desserts, select Italian and Californian wines, craft cocktails, small plates, big flavor and sharable entrees are all created and paired for your tasting pleasure.Chef Mickle, a San Diego native, honed his culinary skills and operations savvy opening restaurants in Washington, DC, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Singapore working for legendary chefs and the food world's leading lights including Michael Mina, Mario Batali and most recently, Gordon Ramsey, before taking the reins at Lou's.The 4500 square foot space offers a private dining room for special occasions, fully tech equipped with a wide screen for every occasion.Lou has been a busy guy and this morning, we’ll spend the hour catching up with him.
