As part of Hockey Fights Cancer Night, two Buffalo legends, former Bills quarterback Jim Kelly and Sabres announcer Rick Jeanneret, took to the ice for the ceremonial puck drop.

The moment is particularly poignant for both men, not just because of their connection to the area, but because they've both learned they're cancer free.
After his second bout with jaw cancer, one that was called 'particularly aggressive', Kelly received the wonderful news in September that he was cancer free. ESPN produced an incredibly inspirational and touching feature on Kelly earlier in the year. Warning: it will make you cry.
As for the long time Sabres announcer Jeanneret, currently on a leave of absence to fight throat cancer, he learned his prognosis this week:

Rick Jeanneret on MSG: "Wednesday evening we got a call at home saying, ‘You’re all clear.’ That means for the moment I’m cancer free."

No word yet on when he might be able to return to work. We hope it's soon. Just isn't the same without him.
