A female journalist wrote a book about her experiences--in which she worked a series of low-paying menial jobs--with an emphasis on her time in a warehouse where she pulled items to be shipped to customers who had bought online. She described the conditions as horrible, brutal and punitive, and she interviewed her co-workers, who, despite being treated like s***, had children to raise and couldn't afford to quit, I read this book several years ago but I can't remember the title.
