Wanting to be a crypto linguist and fluent in Korean. WIll I be sent to DLI

and learn a new language? Hi, I'm currently a high school student and want to become a cryptologic linguist in Air Force.
I was born and lived in Korea for 15 years and it's been 2 years living in California. I just recently
got my citizenship through my mother who is us citizen. I first didn't wanted to go DLI and spend
6~18 months, but I found that DLI course gives me college credit. So now I want to go DLI. The

problem is that I'm fluent in Korean so the Air Force might just make me skip DLI. Then, should I
purposefully fail the language test or something?

First issue is that you might have a problem with your security clearance assuming you still have family in Korea and because you were raised there. That will be a hurdle in getting a linguist position.

You can go to DLI for another language...that's usually not a problem. You do have to pass the Defense Language Aptitude Battery and that can be a problem for a non-native English speaker. Your English seems fine, but the test can be tricky.

Don't fail the DLPT for Korean on purpose...you don't have to take it at all for Korean.

prior fluency has no bearing. only your DLAB score determines whether you can be a linguists as well as what language you will be given.
