Buffalo Bills safety Jairus Byrd wanted to play against the Cleveland Browns in Week 5. Bills coach Doug Marrone vetoed that notion. Byrd will have a chance to play in his first game of the season, but it might occur in a different uniform.
Byrd was a second-round pick by Buffalo in 2009, but the Bills are open to shipping him to another team before the October 29 trade deadline.
Bills know wisest course of action is to trade franchise S Jairus Byrd and they now are open to dealing him, per sources. Talks ongoing.

The move would end a contentious relationship that does not appear to be improving.
Byrd, a two-time Pro Bowler, wanted a long-term contract that made him the NFL’s highest paid safety this past offseason, but received the franchise tender instead (one-year deal worth $6.916 million). He was the last player to sign his franchise tender, and shortly after joining the Bills in late August, Byrd was hampered by his lingering foot injury from last season.
After being a limited participant in practice this past Monday, Byrd fully participated on Tuesday and Wednesday. Even though Byrd was seemingly ready to play against Cleveland, Marrone decided to bench his safety.

Now it appears Buffalo wants another coach to decide Byrd's fate.
