Does a vertical labret piercing scream lesbian?

I really want to get my lip pierced but I don't want to just get the side because I always see everyonge with it. I want something different. I really like the vertical labret I think its really pretty but when I told my family I wanted it they all flipped out on me and said it was for lesbians. I have nothing aagainst lesbians but I am not one and I don't wanna be mistaken as one but I really want this piercing. PLEASE HELP!
