is it really safe to travel with a group of strangers?

So I went to this website ( people to people.com ) where students travel to other countries to learn for 10-20 days. And they also give out scholarship opportunities too. I am a senior this year and finally have a job. Before I go to college I want to go travel to other countries. I know there are risks but my mom let's me go to hong Kong by myself since I been there a gazillion times, would she let me go? I want to go to Australia or new Zealand or Japan . is this a good opportunity for me?

yes it is...just be safe and don't do any bad activity like drinking and smoking weeds with strangers...be active in your senses so that you can take control on yourself...go and explore new places
