My alt key and 7 aren't working properly....?

Take it to a professional and have them remove the alt key and 7 key to make sure it is making a connection

Okay so I was trying to use the alt + 7 key to make the dot it does, so after a while I noticed it kept returning me to my homepage, though I was doing the steps on pressing the alt and 7 key at the same time. How can I fix this?
Okay but what I meant was if you press the alt key and a number on the area likes when you phone dial, it makes an icon. Like alt +1= ?. But then out of no where whenever I try to the alt + 7,4,or 6 it goes to the home page, or back. And I've tried rebooting my computer, clearing the cookies and everything.
