Why is it so hard for the world to disown all religions?

Religion causes more war than anything. The crusades were terrible. If there was no religion on earth, we could all focus on the now and the future of OUR planet . We would be so much more peaceful and it'd be a better place to live.

Religion was started by rulers who wanted to keep their people in line and doing their bidding.

if you do horrible things you go to this horrible place called Hell and burn for all eternity-BUT if you are meek, you will inherit the Earth, and if you don't question them, or cause trouble you will go to a wonderful place with rainbows and golden streets for all eternity.

People truly don't to accept that this is the only life they have-that there isn't a mansion in the sky with all their deceased relatives waiting for them. To be honest, I don't either. It sucks.

Everyone voting down my comment-I take it you aren't aware of the history of religion. Or how many times, and by whom the Bible has been altered and for what purpose. Do yourself a favor, study the history of religion.

Prove it. This is a talking point often iterated, but is not backed up by any academic study. In fact, the only scholarly estimate I ave ever found places it at 7%. Even allowing for error, that is nowhere near 51%.

The Crusades were not about religion. The first was a result of the Pope being asked for help by Constantinople. You should probably read a history book. Even the reclaiming of Jerusalem was very little to do with religions.

I highly doubt that. Good numbers of people do not kill each other simply because they share a religion. The removal of religion would be about the worst step possible for global diplomacy. Unless, of course, you feel the removal of religion should also entail thinking exactly as you do. But that's absurd.
