Gougeres are a savory version of a cream puff. Made from choux pastry. Not difficult to make but you do need to get the technique down. I suggest watching a youtube video on making choux pastry.

I've made gougeres before and they're delicious. Think of little dinner rolls that are cheese and roasted red pepper flavored with the texture of cream puff pastry

13 year olds might like them but it depends on what they're eating with them.

Sure, and you can make them sweet or savory! You might also consider quiche lorraine which is easy to make and yummy to eat.
