1985 Alfa Romeo GTV-6... would it make a good first car?

Im 15 and getting my permit soon. i found for only $1,695 a 1985 Alfa Romeo GTV-6, with 110,000mi on it. The car has not been running for 4 years, but im sure whatever is wrong cant be that bad. The car looks like it was well taken care of. I am intresetd in this, and NOT Honda's, etc. mainly because Honda's etc. are something you see everyday... and this is not. Would it make a good first car?
 
Go ahead. Call someplace like Auto Zone and ask for an alternator for a 28 year old Alfa. Ask about a few parts that are pretty common problems, like valve cover gaskets, brake parts, and so on.

Next, call a few mechanics and ask if they are familiar with 28 year old Alfas, and what problems to expect.

Then tell me if you think this is a good idea.
