We get the smell of hot sizzling food several metres away due to the property of matter known as diffusion.The molecules of matter intermix with each other by getting into the spaces btw the molecules. On heating , the kinetic energy of the molecules becomes higher and hence,diffusion becomes faster and the smell of hot sizzling food reaches us several metres away.
