Can my truck actually fit a v8?

Can my 86 Toyota 2wd pickup actually run a v8 without screwing it up I'd appreciate any help on this

Are you thinking of a Chevy small block V8 or a Toyota V8?
The V8 needs to match the transmission.
I would settle for a Toyota V6 with matching transmission.
Toyota Supra's are real wheel drive and can have twin turbos, if you need the power.

I'm sure you can fit a V-8. I found a link that lists the adapters you need, and also advises doing a 2" lift on the suspension to add clearance for the engine.
