Smart Sharp TV with DirecTV and Receiver?

My family just bought a "Smart" Sharp TV and DirecTV. We've had a Sony Receiver for a few years that we mainly just used for DVDs, but now we use when we watch TV.

So the receiver is hooked up to our DVD player as well as the DirecTV cable, but we don't think the TV itself, because when we try to use anything on just the TV (i.e. Netflix), it doesn't work.

The receiver automatically switches when we change systems, so it'll be on SAT when we watch cable, and DVD when we turn on the player. It also automatically goes to TV when we try to watch Netflix, but there isn't any sound. How do we fix it? Thanks!

Connect the TV's audio out to an input on the receiver.

You need to connect an optical audio cable from the tv to the receiver for you to get the sound from the tv going through the receiver. Hope this will help you out.
