Depends what you're looking for. If you're looking for history, lineage, about the founder stuff like that you can usually find it through articles on the web. However if you're looking to SUPPLEMENT your current training by reading technical books then it pretty much depends on which martial art you're studying.
Many Karate masters wrote books detailing their martial art's techniques but were made to supplement training. People often take it differently thinking that if books were made then they could learn from them. However you still need a qualified instructor to teach you.
The only Karate books I've read are by Mas Oyama and they are:
- What is Karate?
- This is Karate
- The Kyokushin Way
They were interesting to read and gave me a bit of info but it was mainly just to pass time for me.
