I know you can use meat tenderizer as a natural enzyme spot stain remover, by applying it directly on a stain before washing. However I haven't heard of anyone using it as a general stain remover, by adding it into their wash cycle. Why is that? Seems like you can save time by just adding it into your wash to eat up all the proteins in all your clothes, instead of just applying it to specific spots...Are there any health risks by doing this?

Also, if anyone has any suggestions on a NATURAL powdered enzyme alternative I could use in my homemade laundry recipe that is less weird than meat tenderizer, by all means, feel free to share!
