Why is gayness more tolerated these days in Judaism than Christianity?

Many Jewish sects are fine with gays these days. Some orthodox branches are not, but as a percentage of the whole, they don't represent as much as "orthodox" (in the traditional sense, not the east/west sense) Christianity.

Christian groups that fully embrace homos are in the minority, while in modern Judaism, they appear to be close to even, if not in the majority.

Why is this? Why is modern Judaism currently more tolerant of gayness than modern Christianity?

By modern Judaism, you must mean the liberal, progressive ones. Long before these made a show of being pro-gay, they have been playing footsie with every modern trend that came along, all in the effort to gain acceptance in a mainly anti-Semitic world. Orthodox Judaism is even stricter as regards dealing with homosexuality.
