Hey guys, I'm a current high school sophomore, the season ended so I joined the Off-Season to be ready for next season, which will be my first ever season, next Monday (April 29)
we're starting to do scrimmages, we just got our equipment 2 days ago, my problem is:
I'm scared to tackle *sigh*
just having the thought of playing against experienced players, who are stronger, faster and used to hitting and getting hit running towards me (I play Linebacker, I know I know, not the best position in my case) gets me scared, now about getting hit, I don't care. I'm not scared of getting hit at all, I've been tackled by our school's running backs, line backers, linemen, corners, etc... because I would always play football in the weekends with them, so getting tackled isn't scary at all for me, but when it comes the time for me to tackle.... I don't do it
I'm 179 pounds, you could put me against a 98 pound wide receiver, and I still would be afraid to tackle him, why? that's what I wanna know, I mean I'm not scared about getting tackled, but I'm too scared to tackle, F%@$ logic!
are there any tips you guys could give me? I don't want to spend the whole season in the bench.
Just grab the guy.Trust me, once you do it one time, it'll be easy and you won't be afraid.Trust me, I'm 138 pounds(skinny as hell), and bring down guys way bigger and stronger than me.
Square up, wrap your arms around his waist or legs ,squeeze and drag him down with you as you fall.
