Can a DSi CAR Charger/adapter work with a 3DS XL?

I am moving cross country, I just got a 3DS XL, got the car charger for my old DSi a long time ago in a bundle.

So I was wondering since the USB ports fit well if they are in fact compatible. I asked at gamestop, but i think they were just trying to sell more to me, they were acting way too exited. I wanted to ask people who could get nothing in return and are unbiased on this.

I tried google, but getting a straight answer from that is like trying to teach your cat to talk.

Nope, sorry.
The sockets are completely different. However you can buy one which has both USBs like I did, for simplicity. You would also want to get a universal car-usb sort of stick-thing.
