Why is my mac not accepting an empty DVD?

Whenever I insert a blank DVD-R disc into my mac, it goes in, makes a couple noises, and shoots it right out. I've tried a bunch of different discs, so I dont know what's up with my mac.

Sounds like it might be a hardware issue, assuming the DVDs you inserted were brand new, and from various manufacturers.

    Is your Mac under warranty?

If not, I'd try plugging in a $40 USB DVD burner. It'll probably work just fine.
