    Pros:
-They can be genetically modified so that they are resistant to herbicides-weeds around them can be killed while they stay alive.
-Bacterial genes can be introduced which cause the plants to kill harmful organisms. Usually, insecticides kill beneficial and harmful organisms. Ex: Bacillus thuringiensis is a bacteria which kills insect larvae which is harmful to the bacteria. This can be introduced into plants and this way, the plants are their own insecticides.
-Nutritional benefits: supplements necessary to the human diet can be produced by plants if they are genetically modified. Ex: Beta carotene is necessary in the diet because we convert it to Vitamin A. Genes which make enzymes that convert beta carotene into vitamin A have been isolated and inserted into rice plants in an attempt to improve the diets of many people around the world.
-Usually, we change our environment to fit the crops, but genetic modification allows us to change the crops and leave the environment the same. Ex: a gene in Arabidopsis thaliana (a weed) allows it to survive in very salty soil. This gene can be added to other plants so that those crops can be grown in salty soil.

    Cons:
-People do not know the changes to their food
    -It is unnatural
-Increase in allergic reactions (Don't know about this last one, but I'll list the website so you can look at it)
