Advantages of divx to burning?

whats the advantages and disadvantages of putting movies on a disk through divx or just burning them on there

Well for one usually need a special program to burn a DVD onto a DVD-r usually only one movie can fit on disk where as if they are downloaded AVI files you can get from 2-6 movies on one disk. Only problem you need to have divx compatible player though most are made this way now and bluray players are made to read these files as well.
