I got two quotes from progressive, both liability only, not collision, nor comprehensive. The first quote was $692 per year for an 02 BMW 330ci (a really fast coupe I once owned). The second quote was $1,158 per year for a lousy 04 Honda Accord 4 cylinder, 4 door. Why is the honda almost twice as expensive to insure when it's half as fast and dangerous as the BMW? Or is the BMW actually safer? I was always told sporty cars are a lot more costly to insure but in this case they are much cheaper. In fact, out of 5 cars I quoted, I haven't found a car that can be insured for less than the BMW, even though it's the most sporty car.
I double checked and it's actually $850 per year for the honda. But still, $158 less for the BMW is blowing my mind.
