I'm familiar with the French and other Europeans greeting people with the double cheek kiss kiss when is this a north american greeting? why do some people do this while others don't and when do you know who to do this with or not? I wonder is it a Hollywood thing? phoney as their smiles?

No, but I'm problem the only person who grabs their friends and kiss then on their lips.
