The name of like a sci-fi film?

Okay so i saw this film in tv not so long ago and it was like a sci-fi spoof but it was really weird, i would like to know the name of it. So basically this famous writer holds a competition or something like that and asks people to send in there sci-fi pieces but he finds one that is so good he steals the idea and makes it even weirder so if you have any idea of what film this might be please help
