I am working near calgary, at a camp for people with special needs. I am currently in calgary for my week off staying at another staff's place, by myself. The ride that I was hoping to get back to camp from another staff might fall through, would it be safe or a good idea to hitch hike back to my camp? It's maybe 50 minutes away. And the camp i work with is well known in calgary, so I feel people will me more inclined to assist me since I work with adults and children with special needs. I do have a large pack, a day pack and a sleeping bag to take with me. And I always carry a knife with me incase I need it for any reason (more of a tool than a weapon to me).
