...when it is unlocked? my friend gave me a blackberry curve, and it says "SOS" at the top right corner where the carrier should be. when I put my Telus SIM card in, the sos remains, and the phone doesn't connect to the Telus network... I'm pretty sure that the phone is unlocked, however, because when i looked how to unlock a phone online, it seems to already have everything 'disabled' like it should (when a phone is unlocked)

so i dont know for sure if it is unlocked, but im pretty sure. and i dont know what to do because i dont have that much money that i really want to use this phone with Telus, so is there any way i can fix it? Can Telus help me possibly?

All help is appreciated. thanks :)

Are you sure the phone is unlocked? Check this with your friend.Sometimes there are chances that the phone may be temporary unlocked and hence the network lock may have rolled back.I am not sure..of what you mean by "disabled"...unlcoked phone swill work with other GSM networks...that is the difference to identify between locked and unlocked phones.Other chances of this error are * the SIM card is not properly inserted or aligned.* The SIM card is of the BlackBerry smartphone is damaged.
Insert the sim properly and also try to insert other simcards with the phone incase the sim is damaged...even then if you are getting the error...possibility is that...the phone is network locked. If it network locked, you can get the permanent unlock code from UnBBlock.com for your Blackberry Curve 8520.
