how do i fix ps3 (slim) blue-ray laser?

recently i put in my Call Of Duty Black Ops disc into my playstation3 slim only to have something break! now i'm not sure if its my blue-ray laser or what but i need some advice on how i can fix this issue without having to have assistance by sony, because with the amount they charge to repair it i might as well buy a new 1. so please let me know if there's anything i can do!

hi, i know this thread is a little old but, there is alot you could try. Dismantle the machine and rub the lense with ipa and a que tip. I did it but i place mine on its side some times i need to change the side its on for a game to play. The diode cant ''just stop working'' the heat is the cause. Hope that helps.
