Why do people like Eminem so much?

Hes a decent rapper but i don't get why people are saying stuff like hes the best rapper of the generation and titles like that. I think the only reason Eminem is popular is he raps about being depressed and feeling very sad and then uses angry lyrics to combat the depression in a song which teenagers who feel "sad" relate too when they feel down.
