    CD/DVD registry issue [vista]?

Hi i have a asus f6a running on windows vista home pre. i recently have been having some issues with my CD/DVD driver, it will show up on my "My Computer" window, but it will not read any disk in it, i went to see if it was a "upper/lowerfilter" issue but when i got to my "registry editor" window, it only showed "lowerfilter". in normal cases i could just delete upper and lowerfilters but only the lower filter is there, what should i do?

The quick and easy way to fix any issue like this is to delete the offending hardware. Reboot and let the system readd it. This will generally fix the majority of problems like this. Vista is a sick horse that needs to be put down. I would suggest updating to windows 7 which seems much more stable, or even going back to XP Pro.

I know windows geeks will scoff at that, but 95% of businesses buying new computers are ordering them with XP Pro for its reliability. I dont think they are wrong.
