    Issues with my weight?

I have a problem with my weight. I'm 5ft 9 and only 8 and a half stone. People see me and comment on how skinny i am, how i need to 'get food down me' etc. But the thing is, i eat 3 large meals a day and snack all day long so i have no issues with a food disorder or anything like that. I rarely exercise, just going to work and back is my exercise lol. I just cannot put on weight? People say i'm lucky, i don't see it as lucky at all. People don't realise being called too skinny hurts just as much as being called fat. I've tried everything to put on weight but there just seems to be a problem. Should i visit my doctor? Is anybody the same as me?

Hey man, I had the same problem as you. I am 5'9 and use to weight about 110 for a few years but these last few months I've gone up to 130. This is how I did it. Keep eating what you already eat and don't stop, if not eat more. Eat till you want to barf but don't push it. Keep a tough schedule of your meals and stick to it. If you feel like you cannot eat anymore, eat calorie dense foods like peanut butter. If you're eating sandwiches don't go light on mayo. And last and finally, if you're looking for slow steady weight gain, drink 3-4cups of whole milk a day on top of your meals(Add chocolate if you want an extra 300-400 calories, doesn't hurt right?). If you're looking for fast weight gain although this is pricey, buy those 350cal shakes you can get from stores like ensure/boost plus/equate. Drink 3shakes a day and that is about 2200calories you're adding in to your diet just from drinks.

People say you have a fast metabolism but that is only partially true. The real fact of the matter is that you are not taking in enough calories for your body gain fat. You are probably taking in less calories than you actually think you are. I thought the same as you as i use to eat multiple snacks and 3large meals throughout the day but wasn't putting on any weight. Then a friend told me that it wasn't my metabolism that was stopping me, it was that I simply wasn't eating enough and not choosing my calories wisely(he works out). So what I want you to know is that it's not metabolism, you aren't doomed, you can fight this. All it takes is DEDICATION. DO NOT stop, do not eat less, eat more, do not stop drinking the whole milk no matter who repulsive it is, do not stop drinking the shakes. I have actually stopped drinking the shakes and am just maintaining my weight through my regular meals and milk. When you gain more weight you need to take in more calories to maintain that weight. I will return to the shakes in the future when I am ready to gain again but I am taking a break from it after 2monthes(very expensive). 7dollars for 6small shakes. GOOD LUCK!

You most likely have a high Basal Metabolic rate.

    Fill out this calculator: http://home.fuse.net/clymer/bmi/
    Then record your BMR.

To gain weight you need to eat approximately 500-1000 more calories than you burn a day.

If you still have problems go see your doctor and ask about going on weight gainers

Same with me... people ALWAYS comment on how skinny i am... my class year actually thought i was anorexic. I was so embarrassed about that so i started making a point to eat more than anyone in my class... but once i started eating more... i actually started losing more weight.. Then everyone bought i threw up everything i ate.. i felt so bad so i went to the doctor... he checked me for any desises or whatever and i was fine.. he said that i and just skinny because of my mom.. who is also tall and skinny... That made me feel better knowing i had nothing wrong with me maybe u should go to the doctor... if u have soothing wrong w/ u they can help.. and if u don't... well.. ill feel better knowing that u are fine

Well exercise can actually help. Just search on Google for some strength exercises. It will build up your muscle (which is good).
It is mostly because you have a fast metabolism. If you don't feel comfortable with your weight, yes, go talk to your doctor.

I know EXACTLY what your going through. Because i live with that everyday i eat lots of food meals, i snack ALL day. Its NOT a problem. some people have "skinny" genetics example: both sides of my family are all very skinny. And if its not that perhaps you have a high metabolism, or you could be ADD or ADHD (me!) and you just burn through food faster. But don't worry to much about it. You're skinny. If you really want to put on weight though (helped me FINALLY reach my goal as a freshman) drink lots of protein shakes and work out (muscle weighs more than fat) it helped me as a freshmen FINALLY reach 90 pounds.
hope this helps, but dont worry to much, its just how your body is so be PROUD!
