why do some people have the exact same prejudice towards others, that they...

...complain people have towards them? a while ago I was in Spain on a family holiday with my parents, and one night this English guy in a bar who was a bit drunk, started to complaining about how southerners (as in the south of England) think people from stoke-on-Trent (like him) are less "sophisticated"(among other things I won't repeat) then them..... then a few minutes latter he said something to the effect of "they think we're northern, they should try meeting some fucking Geordies" and then proceeded to say many of the same things about people from Newcastle, he accused people from London of wrongly thinking about his people

Probably because they have been stereotyped many times in their past, so in some small, maybe even unconscious way, they have this idea in their head that they are inadequate and don't even realize it themselves. So to over compensate for there own insecurities or for the wrong doings they have received based on prejudices they begin to develop their own stereotypical views and biases on others. It makes them feel in control and powerful, which makes them feel better as people and boost their self-esteem. Also some people just think their crap doesn't stink lol.

    Good luck!
