call the cops before he does it again, not after

Call the police and tell them that they are keeping up a lot of noise, describe what you are hearing. They'll send someone to check it out. Just be prepared though, they usually don't like getting too involved in domestic violence (if that is what is going on) especially when the woman winds up not pressing charges or goes back to the guy (I would say man but he's not a man if he's hitting a woman). Also be prepared for the woman to possibly get angry with you for getting involved.
