Bible telling the future?

genesis 21:13 God promised Abraham that Ishmael's descendants will create a great nation. My atheist friend argued that if the Bible is true then how come there's no great nation from Ishmael's descendants. How can I prove him wrong by showing proof?

All the Arabians in the middle east are the descendants of Ishmael's line of descent. So many nations have de scented from him.

Because there's no such thing.

The bible also says Abraham's descendants will be as numerous as the stars...there are over 100 billion stars just in our own galaxy, and hundreds of billions of galaxies -- and nowhere near that many descendants of "Abraham" (if such a person ever existed anyway). That one fails, too. Like all the others.
