Are trained doctors who also offer alt med scammers too?

I have found that certain websites allow you to look at lists of medical practioners and browse what they specialise in, and you can choose from many GPs who also offer a different range of alternative medicines from energy work (reiki) to naturopathy, homeopathy, the list goes on. So I am wondering, since so many people in this section claim that only quacks administer alt medicine, are these trained doctors also quacks? Do you really think that anyone who spends years studying medicine and already earns a fairly high income, do you really think they need to scam others with quack medicines, or just maybe they are smart enough to see that they work.

With a lot of happiness I see the list of GPs who do a range of alt therapies is increasing all the time. I am at the point where I won't see a doctor unless they do some other alt medicine and thus have an open mind. I am tired of doctors who hand out pills, or going off to get a dose of radiation for every headache I have. I was once told to get a brainscan because I have hormonal headaches, which of course showed nothing. Even I seem to know more about treatments than a lot of doctors.

So all these new doctors with their homeopathy and energy work, are they scammers and quacks too? If they are quacks, how did they ever pass their medical exams I wonder.
@Liberty "I really, really don't like you for it!" Or, it would seem, anyone who is allowed a free will choice of doctor. How about all future patients email you first to check that you approve their choice of practioner and try to avoid you not liking them...because I mean that might ruin their whole day if you didn't like them for it.

Yes. (Most fraudsters are quite aware of who they are and what they're doing.) And people who fall for homopathic altmed scamquackery are easy marks...

I think a lot of these people aren't doing this to deceive, its to offer a service or because they feel medicine doesn't offer everything their patients need and want to offer more.
I'm not in favour of doctors offering these services. A quick course in _____ principles + a few hundred hours learning techniques doesn't make them an ______. When doctors practice using these techniques they aren't always too successful because they apply these techniques with a medical philosophy.
Its probably far less lucrative than conventional medicine. Most of the practitioners will be GP's. as it goes they already have premises and staff but a practice (whatever it is) has considerable overheads.
Without employing staff they are premises (which can be extortionate), advertising, initial equipment costs, telephone, power, registration, CPD and insurance (whioch is usually very low because our rates of injury are minimal).
Every time I srap up an ankle it cost me around $1 in strapping. There is also paper towels people lie on + other little things which need to be paid for. My clinical kit had to be replaced after my car was broken into in the UK that cost me about US$500.

In my own pactice where i work as a 1 man band, about 30% of my take is operating cost, another 15% of whats left goes on GST. Of whats left of that another 20% goes on tax (which will go up once my turnover increases). I don't get to keep 1/2 of what I take and I don't employ any staff and have cheap premises.
I used to make much more money when i worked in technology. However I love what I do. I really enjoy my job and inspite of it all I still make a decent living. I leave the conventional medicine to the doctors. They can leave the manual therapy to people like me.

You really don't understand how profitable alt med is?

Homeopathy and reiki quite literally nothing. No overhead, all profit. You really can't have a more transparent scam than homeopathy.

good question. Just ignore the trolls who are threatened by the fact that yes, many medical professionals absolutely support alternative medicines. This site attracts a lot of radicals who have extreme views, you know the extreme ones by their silly comments, they wish to divide and pretend that all doctors share their views of hate. They spread hate, just ignore :)
