Between the 2, Android. Symbian was primarily used for Nokia phones while Android is developed by Google & is used on a number of phones from Samsung, Motorola, HTC, etc.

All you need to know is that Symbian is being discontinued; only Nokia was developing it, and several months ago they decided to end further development of Symbian and use Windows Phone 7 OS instead on future products.
