Connecting blue ray player to internet?

my brother has a sony blue ray player and is wondering how to connect it to the internet?

In the instructions it says about a LAN cable or a LAN adaptor. what would be best. How do u connect it.

What can you do when it is connected e.g. what benefit is connecting it to the internet.

    (We have a broadband connection)

    Thank you

You just plug it into your home network. I have mine connected but I never use those features cause they are mostly about marketing. Many movies etc have features that can use the network to fetch extras from the movie maker.

A home network means you have a router between your computer(s) (IP phone, PS3, bluray player, etc) and your internet connection, ie DSL or cable modem.
