America that's mostly Christian?
I know many countries that are officially communist still practice Buddhism by the common people. Like China and Vietnam etc the people are mostly buddhist although the govts are communist

Are you talking about the Vietnam war? It has nothing to do with religion, obviously. It has everything to do with how familiar Vietcong was with Vietnamese land.
