After hours of watching kids do cannonballs into a swimming pool. The pool owners calculated that there was only 840 gallons of water left inside the pool. If this is 2/3 of the pool's capacity how many gallons of water can the pool hold in total?

>>>>FULL EQUATION WITH A VARIABLE I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO WORK THE INTIRE SOLUTION OUT<<<<
the solution has to be a variable.

Let x gallons be the capacity of the pool. It's said (2/3 * x) = 840. Therefore, x = 840 * 3 / 2 = 420 * 3 = 1260 gallons.
