How can I listen to an audio quicktime file on my apple ipod or smartphone?

My university publishes lectures and podcasts on a student server as quicktime files. But I can only play them on my laptop, and I can't download them, so I have to load them off the server each time which is time consuming.

is there anyway I can download/convert the files so I can listen to them as a podcast/audio file on my ipod? Or even my smartphone (samsung galaxy).
