Can you think of a few things that are hesitant?

I'm thinking of an introduction to an essay I have to write about a character in the play Twelve Angry Men. In my thesis, I have stated that this character is hesitant. Can you think of something else that's hesitant by nature so that I can make a smooth transition?Thanks!

hesitant by nature.... aren't all animals like that? especially ones who are usually the prey, they weigh situations out before they even go out to get something to eat to keep them alive. They weigh the risk against their reward... I suppose this could maybe work.
