    How do you make microsoft word quit messing up your work?

    I'm talking about when you are trying to write something, and then you ahve to go back to a part that you already typed and add a few words. and then for every letter you type, it erases one, so that you have to rewrite the whoe thing. How do you make it stop this? Also, what makes it start?
