Lancer 2.0 GT vs Honda Civic 2.0 or (MiVec Vs V-Tec)?

I need a professional opinion on these two, going two have it(Lancer or Civic) in 5 months time, tested drive for both, and fairly amused by the performance, really need comprehensive information according:

1) fuel consumption
2) maintenances
3) better engines or more like why these engines are better?
4) safety
5) lifelong worthiness

i will report any misleading opinions.!!!
