    No....you cannot do this to the level you'd need.

    You'd have to severely heat the magnet....strike it very hard repeatedly, or a combination. None of which would suit your case; now would it reduce the mag field enough to help.

    You could try putting a piece of lead sheet, or stainless steel over that part of the magnet...that might help.

    That's the best that can be done.

    demagnetize a magnet in cell phone case?

    I have a cellet cell phone case for my blackberry pearl. There is a magnet at the bottom of the case that puts the phone to sleep when holstered but i would like to remove this option. Removing the magnet is not really an option due to the fact that it is covered by leather and would ruin the aesthetics of the case, and removing from the inside would create an environment that would create scratches. I would like to know if anyone has any ideas on how to demagnatize the magent. Heating is not really an option due to the leather.
