Is this how portable dvd players work?

Can I just buy a portable dvd player, but a movie and then put the dvd in and watch a movie? Is that it?
 
No. It's not. You have to unpack the DVD player first. I know, annoying right?

yup you will probably have to charge the battery but you can watch the movies while it charges or just plug it in and dont use the battery they also come with cables so you can play it on your tv so its like a dvd player
 
Nope... you have to spin it 17 times (counter clockwise) on the floor of a Golden Corral, then make a burnt offering to the gods of digital media (they like chicken wings), then wait until a full moon and prick your finger with the quill of an angry porcupine, then let 4 drops of your blood (hope you're a virgin!) onto the dvd player... Then, and only then will it work
