    Torrents go v.slow then v.quick?

Recently, my torrents stopped going at 400kb/s and suddenly go very slow (around 4,5kb/s) during most of the day but sometimes at night go back to 400kb. On all my house computers too. Any ideas?

That's normal. The download speed depends on seeds/peers and their upload speed so you have no control on that other than downloading another "more alive" torrent.

As the other person said. It depends on the amount of people hosting the file, and the amount of people downloading it. Also, your ISP will zap your connection at peak times (when everybody is online, probably about 6PM) so it's best to download in the morning or overnight.

It depends on the number of seeders(sharing the file) and the number of leechers (downloading the file). Also torrents are based on other people's speed too since you are downloading the file from them . Maybe they are running multiple activities using internet.

It definitely sounds like your ISP is throttling torrent traffic. The other possibility is that a lot of the other people in the torrent are being throttled by their ISPs. The majority of consumer ISPs seem to slow or block torrents during peak internet usage hours. Generally this would be from 4 or 5 PM until 11PM, but it might also be done during the morning and afternoon if a lot of people use the Internet then.

There is not much you can do about it except upgrading to a more expensive Internet connection that doesn't have throttling on it (but that won't help when the problem is with the other people in the torrent or their connections).
