Yes, because science takes information about the world around us, and uses it for applicable results. TVs, Space Shuttles, Cars, Medicine, Cell Phones...all came from science. I'd like to see a Space Shuttle constructed entirely on philosophical or religous principles....it's sure to be a hoot!

Science is a philosophy, thus fits within the larger field of philosophy in general. The philosophy of science is the basis of the method, it's application, and how we go about interpreting data. To see this basic point, just look at the highest degree one can acheive in most academic fields, and all the sciences: a PhD, or "Doctor of Philosophy."

Religion, at best, offers hypotheses about the world that we can test.

Science is the proper way to understand the natural, of course; but science gives us no reason to deny that there are aspects of human identity that fall outside the sphere of nature, and hence outside the sphere of science.

no one cares what philosophers think, if philosophy disappeared from the earth tomorrow no one would notice, science disappear and the world would cease as we know it

Science is more reliable and accurate, yes. Whether it is more meaningful is a matter of opinion. In my opinion, science does offer you any sort of fulfillment or sense of purpose. Many turn to religion for that fulfillment. I prefer to turn to philosophy and a humanistic, moral way of living, since it doesn't include all the insanity, judgement, asshole deities, etc. that religion does.
