I got a T-Mobile Sidekick in Australia?

Im gonna be in Australia for the next 3 months and i got my T-Mobile Sidekick LX and i dont really wanna buy a new phone, will i be able to access the internet (eg: aim & facebook) seeing as they dont have T-Mobile here.

I understand that the Australian company Telstra is a subsidiary of T-Mobile, so will i be able to go on aim with a Telstra sim card?
