What are the greatest moments in war that involve the U.S.?

Of all wars (WWI, WWII, U.S. Civil War, Revolutionary War, etc...) that the U.S. was involved in, can you tell me what you believe to be the 10 greatest moments in war of all time. Just tell me like your top 10. For Example: 1. Nuking of Hiroshima 2. D-Day (Battle of Normandy)ETC.....If possible can you support like a few of your moments like 1,3 5, or like 2, 4,6 etc.. just supports like a few random ones. I asked this question before but now i need to survey on like all the wars that hod some sort of U.S. involvement.Thank you for you help.

the greatest moments in war are the refusals to start one. Alas you jump in feet first every gung-ho foolish time.

What are the greatest moments in war that involve the U.S.?

I can't say per battle what the top ten are but I'll try to give an outline.1. Obviously the Revolutionary War has to be first in U.S. History because there would be no United States without it.2. War of 1812 is probablty the most overlooked; had the U.S. clearly lost that war, there was the possibility that the country could have once again been ruled by Britian.3. Civil War was the war that had the most American casualties since Americans were killing each other. Unknown what would have happened if the Union hadn't won the war- would the two sides have eventually rejoined? would the Western expansion had continued and how? would the two sides continue to be hostile militarily, economically, etc.? Would the two sides be used as pawns against each other by other countries (Britian, Spain)?4. World War II- the U.S. emerges as the top superpower (partly because the country is left undamaged by the war unlike the other top powers).5. Spanish-American War- the U.S. stops imperialsim in it's sphere of influence, gains new territories, and begins to see itself on a world scale.6. World War I- US sees itself as an equal with the other great powers.7. War on Terror?just my opinions on the importance of each war to the U.S.; guess you'd have to add which battles of each war are most important.

Ten Great Events, in no particular order:1. Invasion of Normandy, June 6, 1944 - the beginning of the end of the German Western Front2. The Battle of Midway, June 4-7, 1942 - the turning of the tide in the Pacific, in which the Japanese Navy was defeated3. The Battle of Guadalcanal, August 7, 1942-February 7, 1943 - the first major U.S. combined forces attack on Japanese forces4. The Battle of Berlin, April-early May, 1945 - the final defeat of Nazi Germany5. The Battle of the Bulge, December 16, 1944-January 25, 1945 - the last major German offensive is decisively defeate6. The Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, August 6 and 9, 1945 - A costly invasion of the main islands of Japan is averted.7. The Battle of Gettysburg, July 1-3, 1863 - A Southern attack on the North is decisively defeated at great cost to the Confederacy.8. The Battle of Vicksburg, December 26, 1862-July 4, 1863 - the North9. The Battle of Saratoga, September-October, 1777 - A British Army was trapped, impressing France sufficiently that it offered significant assistance to the Rebels.10. the Battle of Yorktown, 1781 - the final great victory of the Continental Army. After this, victory was certain.

400 civilian farmers '"stand behind the rude bridge spanning the Aprils flood and fire the shot heard round the world"the US Army without food, clothing, arms, or much hope, holds together through "the winter of our discontent" at Valley ForgeUSS Constitution beats HMS Guierrie in a fair one on one sea fight; first time that had happened to the Brits in 50 years and the first of many for the fledgling USNthe entire US Army.....all 4,000 of them .....cut loose from their supply base and march 600 miles into Mexico to assault Santa Anna in Mexico City, a move the Duke of Wellington called completely mad.....had that army been cut off who knows what would have happened to the US of A and the careers of junior officers such as Lee, Grant, Longstreet, Stuart.....300 Maine farmers and fishermen of the 20th Regiment of Infantry hold a hill outside of Gettysburg on 3 July 1863; they fire off all their ammunition and then fix bayonets and charge downhill into 500 Johnny Rebs; holding the Union left and keeping Lee from rolling up the entire Union Army.......George Dewey at Manila Bay and Ralph Sampson at Santiago Cuba lead two US fleets that burn capture or sinkevery Spanish ship they face; Spain is done as a world power and the grandsons of the Constitution set a standard for all to follow....."C'mon, do you want to live forever?" asks a Marine sergeant as 2,000 Marines stop two divisions of Germans cold at place called Bellaeu Wood in France, 1917the American and Filipino garrisons of Bataan, without hope of relief or resupply or victory,=....hold for six months until they are taken into that long night of their captivitythe desperate hand to hand fighting ashore at Guadalcanal and the equally desperate fight at sea that left so many ships sunk they renamed the waters "Iron Bottom Sound"......six months when the fight could have gone either way....Iwo Jima, "where uncommon valor was a common virtue"the Pusan perimeter and the Chosen Reservoir in Korea;the Army units that refused to lose Saigon in the Tet Offensive and the Marines that retook Hue; the one mechanized and one Marine division that took down Saddam's Iraq in two weeks in the most audacious calvary raid in history........and the dozens of unpublicized actions, 1946-2008, as part of the Cold War and today's fight for freedom, Kipling's "savage wars of peace", that we civilians never heard of, but 'can sleep peacefully in our beds because rough men stand ready to to do violence on our behalf"
